Summary:
On 8/4/2024, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted a video on X in which he describes depositing a bear in NYC’s Central Park along with a bicycle in 2014.
A person discovered the bear around 8:45 am on 10/8/2014 in the area of West 68th Street and Central Park West and reported it a Central Parks Conservancy worker, who relayed the information to the NYPD.
An officer with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation responded to the scene, and transported the bear in the back seat of their patrol vehicle to a pathology lab for a necropsy. The necropsy determined that the 7 or 8-month-old, 44.8 lb., female black bear cub died of “massive blunt impact trauma”, consistent with a motor vehicle strike. A DNA evaluation report indicated that the bear was likely from the Sterling Forest region of New York and New Jersey.
